    DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As an Attorney Examiner, you will perform supervisory and quasi-judicial work in the adjudication of appeals involving a broad range of DHS program regulations. You will be responsible for conducting and adjudicating recipient and non-recipient appeals in a variety of subject matters, as well as review the work of Human Services Hearing Officers for conformity to established laws, policies and procedures. You will also conduct pre-hearing conferences and issue subpoenas, Orders and Rules to Show Cause, and rule on motions. This role requires effective communication to interface with appellants, attorneys, representatives, and agencies. In addition, you will conduct quarterly meetings, track the status of case assignments.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

    + Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

    + Travel to Wilkes-Barre and Reading.

    + Overtime as needed.

    + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of your probationary period and/or training. Work assignments will primarily take place in the office. Telework will be based on operational needs of the bureau. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Two years of professional legal work which includes one year of trial work experience; and a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.

    Special Requirements:

    + You must be in possession of a certification of current license and active admission in good standing to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
