The Opportunity
The Training Design Engineer is responsible for creating effective and engaging learning content and experiences by analyzing learner needs, collaborating with subject matter experts, and applying instructional design theories to develop online courses, training modules, and educational materials. Key responsibilities include designing curriculums, developing interactive activities, and utilizing authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS) to deliver learning solutions that meet organizational goals and learning objectives.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
* Needs Analysis - Assess learning requirements and identify knowledge gaps to inform the design of effective learning experiences
* Content development - create and update courses using interactive elements and multimedia
* Collaboration - work with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content
* Instruction design models - Apply principles from models like ADDIE to guide the analysis, design and development of course content
* Technology - Leverage authoring tools, learning management systems and other digital tools to create and deliver online and blended training
* Assessment - design assessments and knowledge checks to evaluate learning outcomes and employee progress
* Evaluation and improvement - collect feedback and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and enhance the learning experience.
What you need to succeed:
* Proficiency with Articulate 360 including development of interactive course content in Storyline and Rise.
* Understanding of adult learning theory to create engaging and effective learning experience
* Project management - skills in managing project scope, organizing documentation and coordinating with stakeholders
* Communication - strong collaboration and communication skills in working with SME and other team members
