The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is looking for a Site Director for its Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee one of the Commonwealth’s most complex and impactful community mental health sites, blending clinical oversight, operational management, and cross-system collaboration. As Site Director, you will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for a broad portfolio of state-operated and contracted services serving adults with serious and persistent mental illness, including community clinical services, intensive treatment teams, and shelter-based supports. The role is central to ensuring services are clinically driven, person-centered, culturally responsive, and aligned with statewide mental health priorities, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and effective use of limited resources. You will work at the intersection of clinical care, public systems, and community partnerships, collaborating closely with hospitals, housing and homeless services, courts, law enforcement, and other state agencies to support diversion, discharge, and continuity of care. This position is essential to shaping service delivery across a large, multidisciplinary workforce and managing high-visibility programs within a dynamic urban environment. inclusive):_*/ · Provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management for the Lindemann Site, ensuring delivery of clinically driven, comprehensive, and person-centered mental health services. · Oversee day-to-day operations of the Site Office and state-operated programs, ensuring continuity of services, appropriate coverage, and adherence to Department policies and standards. · Manage and monitor contracts for Adult Community Clinical Services and PACT programs, including utilization management, fiscal oversight, billing approval, and performance accountability. · Direct the operation of the Lindemann Inn shelter and associated homeless services, ensuring safety, quality care, and effective integration with clinical and community-based supports. · Lead utilization review, risk management, and quality management processes to ensure services are responsive to individual needs, emergent situations are addressed promptly, and resources are used effectively. · Supervise, support, and evaluate a large multidisciplinary workforce, including clinical, supervisory, administrative, and direct care staff, while promoting workforce development and accountability. · Facilitate coordination with acute and continuing care inpatient facilities to support diversion, timely discharge planning, and successful transitions to community-based services. · Establish and maintain effective partnerships with state agencies, courts, law enforcement, housing providers, and community organizations to strengthen service access and system coordination. · Promote culturally competent care and a diverse, inclusive workforce through leadership, training, and ongoing engagement with staff and community stakeholders. · Respond to consumer concerns, community inquiries, and government or Central Office requests, while supporting outreach efforts to increase awareness of mental health services and resources. *_Preferred qualifications:_* · Demonstrated expertise in administration and management, including supervision, program planning, communication, budgeting, utilization management, risk management, and quality management. · Proven ability to provide effective leadership across complex service environments, including state-operated and contracted mental health programs. · Strong knowledge of crisis intervention principles, with the ability to make timely, sound decisions and de-escalate high-risk situations to ensure safety. · Advanced skills in staff supervision and development, including performance evaluation, training needs assessment, motivation, and disciplinary processes. · Ability to assess the clinical and service needs of individuals served and evaluate the effectiveness of case management and service delivery models. · Capacity to recognize clinical risk and pathology, ensure appropriate referrals, and support ongoing assessment and management of complex clinical needs. · Thorough understanding of applicable state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and standards governing mental health and human service programs. · Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, build consensus, and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. · Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing demands, and work independently in dynamic environments. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, analyze data, and use standard business and data applications effectively. *__* · Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral health, mental health systems, or human services, including senior leadership or executive-level roles. · Extensive knowledge of community-based mental health service delivery, including Adult Community Clinical Services, PACT models, and homeless or shelter-based programs. · Proven experience managing complex public-sector or contracted service budgets, including utilization management, billing oversight, and fiscal accountability. · Strong background in risk management, quality management, utilization review, and regulatory compliance within state or federally funded health or human service programs. · Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, multidisciplinary workforces, including supervision, performance management, labor relations, and workforce planning. · Deep understanding of Massachusetts state systems, including Department of Mental Health policies, licensing requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. · Track record of building effective partnerships with hospitals, courts, law enforcement, housing providers, and other state and community stakeholders. · Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to navigate complex, high-visibility environments, respond to crises, and represent the agency with professionalism Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
