    • About the Role

     

    We’re looking for a dedicated Administrative Fellow to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Administrative Fellowship, a paid 12-24 month postgraduate leadership opportunity designed to prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders. The program provides hands-on experience in operations, strategy, and administration, including executive mentorship from senior executives. Upon successful completion of the administrative fellowship program, fellows are equipped to be considered for long term employment available across the Saratoga Hospital / Albany Med Health System. No employment beyond 12 months is guaranteed.

     

    • What You’ll Do

     

    Core Administrative & Operational Responsibilities

     

    + Support strategic initiatives by conducting research, preparing analyses, and assisting senior leaders with planning and execution.

    + Lead project-based work that advances organizational priorities in areas such as quality, patient experience, finance, or workforce development.

    + Develop business cases through data analysis, benchmarking, and financial modeling to inform leadership decision-making.

    Leadership Exposure & Collaboration

    + Collaborate with executive leaders by attending leadership meetings, preparing materials, and contributing to discussions.

    + Engage cross-functional teams to support system-wide initiatives and ensure alignment across clinical, operational, and administrative areas.

    + Facilitate communication between departments by synthesizing information, preparing reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders.

    Performance Improvement & Analytics

    + Analyze operational and clinical data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

    + Support quality and safety initiatives by assisting with root-cause analyses, workflow mapping, and performance tracking.

    + Contribute to process improvement efforts using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or PDSA cycles.

    Professional Development & Rotational Learning

    + Participate in structured rotations across key departments (e.g., finance, operations, strategy, ambulatory services, inpatient care).

    + Engage in mentorship activities with senior executives and preceptors to support career development.

    + Attend leadership development sessions, workshops, and organizational training programs.

    Administrative & Project Support

    + Prepare executive-level presentations, briefing documents, and reports for internal and external audiences.

    + Conduct environmental scans on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes.

    + Support accreditation and compliance activities by gathering documentation and assisting with readiness efforts.

     

    Research, Policy, & Compliance

     

    + Conduct policy reviews and help update organizational policies to align with regulatory and accreditation standards.

    + Perform literature reviews on emerging healthcare trends, best practices, and innovations to inform strategic planning.

    • What You bring

    + Master’s Degree from an accredited University. Preferred master’s degrees are Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or an equivalent degree.

    + Individuals who have other educational degrees are still encouraged to apply. Applicants who have completed didactic training will be considered for this position.

    + Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while utilizing critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.

    + Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed, and positive.

    + Excellent customer service skills and must display integrity, friendliness, and compassion.

    + Must be able to establish an appropriate and effective rapport with others.

    + Must be flexible to take initiative and embrace new opportunities to grow both personally and organizationally.

    + Problem solving skills.

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    + Strong organizational skills.

    + Effective interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
