**Pay Rate:** Based on experience
**Work Hours:** M-F 8am–5pm
**Education:** Associate’s Degree in Electronics or equivalent military training
Description
Reporting to the Technology Lab Manager, the RF Characterization and Test Technician is responsible for RF coaxial connector qualification testing, R&D prototype characterization, and support of quality investigations. This role requires hands-on RF test expertise, strong analytical skills, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute RF coaxial connector qualification testing per customer and MIL specifications
• Develop and execute electrical, mechanical, and environmental test plans
• Perform R&D prototype testing and product characterization
• Build and operate RF electrical test beds using VNAs, signal generators, amplifiers, and oscilloscopes
• Collect, analyze, and document test data; generate customer-ready test reports
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for customer and manufacturing issues
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Applications, and Quality Engineering teams
• Support competitive analysis and industry standards initiatives
Experience & Technical Skills
• 3+ years of experience as an RF Test Technician
• Strong understanding of RF coaxial transmission, connector impedance, and passive component testing
• Hands-on experience with VNA, spectrum analyzer, RF signal/power sources, and environmental test equipment
• Knowledge of calibration, de-embedding, and time-domain analysis (40 MHz–100 GHz)
• Ability to read and comply with customer Source Control Drawings (SCD)
• Understanding of metrology and 4-wire resistance measurement techniques
• Mechanical aptitude with tools, fixtures, gauges, and test equipment
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
• Experience with test automation and equipment integration (LabVIEW, BenchView)
• Competitive product analysis experience
• Knowledge of RF market technologies and applications
• Experience with hybrid RF/Optical products
Soft Skills
• Results-oriented, self-starter with minimal supervision
• Detail-oriented and quality focused
• Effective and professional communicator
• Team-oriented with the ability to mentor others
