Description of Job
AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES INSPECTOR:A customer service-based position that involves
inspecting for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil, or other plant species on boats and personal
watercraft at an inspection point in the park. This is an important position for the protection of natural
resources from non-native species that threaten wildlife, drinking water/irrigation and all water-related
outdoor recreation in the State of Colorado. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective
communication and public relations skills. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Staff the park ANS (aquatic nuisance species) inspection station.
• Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews in outside conditions with a variety of
weather conditions
• Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distributes brochures, promotes ANS
education, educates about State Park regulations, etc.)
• Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas.
• Including maintenance of facilities and grounds.
• Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application
software.
• May document and report visitor complaints.
• ANS applicants will be required to work at the ANS station for an 8+ hour shift and take lunch at
the station.
• Other duties as assigned.
PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN:Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of
public facilities including: restrooms, showers, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, cabins, etc.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on state-owned vehicles and equipment. Assures quality
customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness
• Provides information and assistance to visitors
• May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and
supplies
VISITOR SERVICES TECHNICIAN:A customer service-based position that involves working in the
Navajo State Park visitor center, greeting visitors. The position may cross-train to provide support to
other park locations when needed. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication
and excellent public relations skills.
• Staff the park's visitor center to provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes
maps/brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs,
educates on State Park regulations, etc.)
• Provide information to the boating and non-boating public.
• Sell park passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood, and other novelties.
• May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and
snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses.
• Operate a state POS system/cash register and computer to print reports.
• Answering of telephones and transferring/taking messages.
• Collects revenue, completes shift report and balances shift box at end of each shift.
• May take campground reservations
• May document and report visitor complaints.
• Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of visitor center and/or offices,
including litter pick up.
• May assist with special events or programs within the park.
• Other duties as assigned.
Marina Services Store or Technician
A customer service-based position that involves working in the Navajo State Park Marina Store or at the
Two Rivers Marina dock at Navajo State Park, greeting visitors, providing services and information,
including regulations.
• Renting and prepping boats for visitors
• Boat inspection/cleaning upon return from rentals
• Selling gas for visitors if working on the dock
• Providing shuttles to mooring boat owners if on dock
• May assist Rangers in boat retrievals
• Using the computer and state POS system for sales
• Sell park passes & boat registrations along with merchandise, clothing, etc.
• Cleaning & light maintenance duties of interior/exterior of marina store or dock including litter
pick-up and trash disposal.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES INSPECTOR:
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
• Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges. Consideration will be given to all other
previous violations of law, including misdemeanor violations, domestic violence, traffic and
conservation laws
• Must have or be able to attain valid current First Aid and CPR certifications
• Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays
• Applicants must successfully complete a background check
• Must successfully complete and pass the ANS Certified Training
PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN:
•Must be at least 16 years of age.
• If position requires operation of a motorized vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid
driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
• Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday.
• Knowledge of power tools and hand tools preferred.
• Knowledge of small engine and other equipment maintenance and repair preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.
• Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be 16 years of age or older

• Must be able to work on weekends, holidays,evenings and varied shifts.
• Must have strong computer skills to be able to learn the POS system for the state
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral). Ability to work with little

• Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in
this position.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perceive color differences and to hear verbal and radio
communications. Ability to lift 25 lbs to stock brochures, merchandise, etc.
Marina Services Store or Technician:

• Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, evenings and varied shifts and various weather.
• Must have strong computer skills to be able to learn the POS system for the state
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral). Ability to work with little

this position.
The park may provide some uniform items, however, employee may be required to
purchase some items at their own expense.

Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:
+ Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
+ Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
+ Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
