Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all of the hospital's facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. It fosters an environment of growth and professional development by cultivating the skills necessary to oversee the vital maintenance operations needed throughout the institution. PC&PF also plays a longitudinal role for the institution in overseeing the construction of new facilities and the modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives. All of this makes PC&PF a vital and integral department in delivering world class cancer care to patients.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in healthcare facilities management or supervisory experience in maintenance operations. They should demonstrate technical expertise in plant equipment and systems, combined with leadership skills to manage teams effectively in a dynamic hospital environment. This individual thrives in fast-paced settings, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards such as Joint Commission requirements.
The work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
The salary range is $88,000 - $110,000 - $132,000.

Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure efficiency and productivity. Supervises daily Workload of Craft and Maintenance Technicians. Supervises effective PM processes on all assigned infrastructure and utility systems to provide safe and reliable utility systems. Improves PM process and frequencies to improve productivity and effectiveness.
Assures accurate information is posted on Labor & Materials used on work completed on all A and PM work orders. Monitors service contracts and negotiate with vendors/ contractors. Plans and consults in designing and initiating repairs, remodeling and construction projects when assigned.
Supervises Special Systems: pneumatic tubes, trash and linen systems as assigned. Maintains assigned operating budget within the acceptable +/- 2% variance. Manage overtime to stay within guidelines. Provide lead support of the Energy Initiative.
Manages Customer Response and JC Compliance Support. Communicates daily with customers to assure quality service with minimum call backs. Maintains inter-departmental relationships to maximize responsiveness to customer needs and demands. Collaborate closely with other shifts and departments. Supervises outages on their shift. Provide lead support the EOC program and support all initiatives associated with Joint Commission readiness (ready every day).
Manage employee workload, document staff and team performance, metrics management. Effectively schedule work for the front-line staff and supervises shift coverage and hand-off of backlog to subsequent shift supervisor. Works closely with the Planner/Scheduler and WCC team. Effectively track workload and schedule compliance. Supervises work orders status, monitors staff and team members performance, manages assets assigned. Assures accurate information is posted on daily time sheets for all work. Reviews metrics and meets performance expectations. Provide input and assessment on hiring, evaluations and promotions. Ensure employees complete all training and meet assigned goals.
Other Duties as Assigned Employee is considered ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL for all emergency
Related events and agrees to fulfill the responsibilities associated with signing the agreement. The employee may be expected to call in or respond to a call-in emergency but is not eligible for on-call pay.
*EDUCATION*
* Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Preferred: Associate's Degree Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
*WORK EXPERIENCE*
* Required: Five years In one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience.
* Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
* Preferred: Ability to work within the Microsoft Windows environment and experience working within a CMMS environment. Healthcare experience and/or supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance
*LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS*
* Preferred: TDL - Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
* Preferred: Journeyman's license in one craft.
*OTHER REQUIREMENTS: *Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
