Scope of Job
To coordinate all aspects of equipment for the assigned athletic program, including, but not limited to, planning, ordering, receiving, and ensuring proper use of athletics equipment within the parameters of the department and university procurement and inventory control guidelines.
Description of Duties
+ Coordinates all aspects of equipment functions for the assigned athletic program.
+ Assesses equipment needs and makes recommendations for purchase in consultation with Head Coaches and management in accordance with university guidelines.
+ Ensures proper use of all equipment for the assigned athletic sport.
+ Reviews, proposes and implements use of equipment and apparel policies and procedures.
+ Maintains database system for managing the distribution of equipment to student athletes, coaches and other department staff.
+ Responsible for coordinating the embroidery and screen printing of uniforms in accordance with department branding standards and university guidelines.
+ Participates in the budget planning for equipment operations and uniform purchases.
+ Coordinates and oversees the organization, distribution, collection, repair, inventory and storage of all equipment as necessary.
+ Supervises the laundering of uniforms and equipment of assigned sport.
+ Leads assigned staff in laundry details, game procedures, equipment repair and other tasks deemed necessary.
+ Coordinates the transportation of equipment for all games.
+ Coordinates and may perform minor equipment maintenance to ensure safety and expected performance.
+ Hires, trains, supervises, and manages temporary staff to aid in functions related to equipment operations.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in sports administration, sports management, or other related field.

One (1) year of experience working in an athletic department or working with equipment management.

Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Exposure to outside environments, hot, dry, wet, and cold. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Some travel and weekend work may be required. Ability to read and understand label instructions on chemicals. Duties may involve the lifting and moving of heavy objects, stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching, and other activities requiring physical exertion.
