    POSITION: Student Support Team Member (High School)

    GRADE LEVELS: K-12

    SCHOOL YEAR: 2025-26

    REPORTS TO: Building Assistant Principal and/or Dean of Students

     

    WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt/10 month

    POSITION SUMMARY: Student Support Team members ensure that Tapestry provides its students and families with a world-class K-12 educational experience. SST members make this possible by working proactively to create a thriving school culture based upon Tapestry's core values (Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility). SST members work to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to ensure the success of all students. In addition, SST members are responsible for supporting the effective implementation of their school's student culture system and routines. In addition, SST members help to facilitate a variety of research-based behavior interventions and supports that are rooted in restorative justice.

    PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Partners with the school leadership team to create a culturally inspirational and academically rigorous school that reflects Tapestry's core values (Perseverance, Integrity, Responsibility and Respect).

    + Supports the implementation of major critical routines (including, but not limited to, arrival, lunch, and hallway transitions) by playing a specific role to support students and staff.

    + Provides support to classroom teachers to assist with maintaining high expectations for student culture, engagement and learning.

    + Provides support to the school during morning arrival and dismissal.

    + Facilitates behavior interventions for students, including, but not necessarily limited to, facilitating conflict resolution meetings, peer mediation and restorative circles.

    + Supports students to learn, internalize and implement behaviors to support self-regulation, including developmentally appropriate de-escalation and coping strategies.

    + Internalizes the school's Code of Conduct and assigns or supports disciplinary consequences when appropriate, such as lunch detention or after school detention.

    + Ensures appropriate documentation for all behavior interventions and follow ups in accordance with the expectations of the school's authorizer, the SUNY Charter Schools Institute, and New York state education law.

    + Participates in staff meetings and professional development opportunities, including, but not necessarily limited to, staff meetings, one on one check ins with their supervisor, and meetings of the school culture team

    + Assist with the implementation of any behavior intervention plans developed for students.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    + High school diploma or GED required, Associates degree preferred.

    + Positive past experiences leading children.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Work is performed primarily in a classroom environment, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion including walking, bending, standing. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers to complete typing, filing, and data entry. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Position requires talking, walking, driving, speaking and comprehension of complex matters.
