    Some of what you'll be doing:

    As a Construction Cost Engineer/Scheduler in Port Construction Services (PCS), you will help ensure construction projects are delivered on schedule and within budget by providing project control services.

     

    + You will lead the development of project schedules, including the planning and sequencing of activities related to project design and construction.

    + You will coordinate with construction managers and update the master schedule as needed to reflect project changes.

    + You will perform project scheduling activities and identify linkages, conflicts, interfaces, and interdependencies within and across projects.

    + You will assist management in monitoring and reporting monthly budgets, forecasts, asset plans, and schedule progress.

    + You will support the preparation of quarterly capital project cash flows and reports for the finance and budget teams.

    + You will assist construction project managers in determining priorities and documenting schedule changes resulting from shifting project demands.

    + You will support management with analyses that inform and guide the strategic planning process, as directed.

    Who you are:

    + **Experienced** – You have four (4) years of experience providing construction project cost management/tracking and/or scheduling.

    + **Desired** – We hope you have an Associate of Arts degree in Engineering or Construction Management, a Construction Management Certificate, and experience in project controls and estimating.

    + **Proficient** – You possess working knowledge of collaborative project scheduling, construction operations, and essential project management practices, including budgeting and forecasting.

    + **Efficient Communicator** – You demonstrate effective verbal, written, and active listening skills, and communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders, Construction Managers, and Field Construction Management staff. You are also comfortable leading meetings to discuss new projects, facilitate discussions, and prioritize team and project needs.

    + **Analytical and Highly Organized** – You are proficient in creating and managing detailed programmatic schedules for multiple construction projects and demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, ensuring accurate records and documentation.

    + **Technically Savvy** – You have experience with project management software tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel, as well as familiarity with Gantt charts, milestone charts, and other tools used for critical path analysis.

    What else you need to know:

    + **Work Schedule** – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

    + **Work Environment** - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting and may require a scheduled day at the construction yard, at Management’s discretion.

    + **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

    + **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
