    Deputy Early Childhood Education

    Summary Purpose for the Position:

    Provide overall education services support to the Child and Family Development Services program. Oversee the development, implementation, coordination and monitoring of a comprehensive education services program for all centers, in keeping with Head Start Performance Standards, and state and local licensing regulations. Provide training and technical assistance to center-level staff.

    Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill):

    Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Human Development or related field. State Licensing requirements.

     

    Two years experience working in early childhood education.

     

    Must demonstrate strong written, verbal and computer competencies.

     

    Must possess administrative management and/or specialized skills and knowledge.

     

    Must be able to work with a culturally diverse staff and client base.

     

    Bilingual preferred (English/language of majority of families in program).

     

    Must have current physical exam, mantoux tuberculosis screening, and clearances.

     

    Must be willing to Travel and Overnights.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Implement PathStone’s operational policies and procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, state and local licensing regulations.

     

    Delegate, observe, monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to center staff and Senior Director regarding compliance.

     

    Provide regular reports on program compliance to the Senior Director.

     

    Collaborate with professional and community organizations to incorporate and improve educational and disability services for children; comprehensive services for families; and, educational opportunities for staff.

     

    Provide regular monitoring of operations education and disability services through review of center operations, expenditure reports and on-site program documentation.

     

    Complete monthly and annual reports, including recommending and implementing plans for improvement and/or corrective actions.

     

    Coordinate with other CFDS support staff to ensure program collaboration.

     

    Review and evaluate curricula and screening & assessment tools to be implemented throughout the program.

     

    Develop and/or assist in preparing service area plans, training plans, educational manuals, disability service manuals, and other educational materials.

     

    Provide support and TTA to HDSC’s, ECEC’s, CA’s, classroom staff, and parents in implementing individualized activities from official IFSPs, and IEPs for eligible children.

     

    Implement Policies and Procedures related to services for children with disabilities in compliance with HSPPS.

     

    Participate in the conduct and analysis of the Community Assessment and develop the educational services, and disability services program design based on the needs assessment.

     

    Provide sound technical support, guidance and motivate staff in their professional development through coaching and mentoring.

     

    Provide annual orientation to all management, and classroom staff on Disability Services.

     

    Attend meetings, conferences, hearings, etc. at the request of the Senior Director.

     

    Implement School Readiness Plan.

     

    Adhere to established Work Plan and update as necessary or directed by Supervisor.

     

    Adhere to PathStone’s Confidentiality Policy.

     

    Adhere to PathStone’s Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.

     

    Adhere to PathStone’s Positive Guidance Policy.

     

    Maintain local, state and/or federal professional affiliations.

     

    Assist in the physical maintenance and care of center facility such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing and garbage disposal.

     

    Perform other job related duties as required or assigned.

    Working Conditions/Environment:

    Must be able to work flexible hours (some evening/week-end hours).

     

    Must be able to travel (some overnight).

     

    Must be able to work with cleaning products such as bleach and disinfectants.

     

    Moderate exposure to disease agents.

     

    Includes outdoor work.

     

    Position must frequently bend and lift up to 60 pounds.

    Transportation Requirement:

    Position requires automobile, driver’s license and insurance.
