Job Description
The Quality Technician trains employees to execute quality procedures; ensures
the routine maintenance of all testing equipment; works with personnel in other
departments to resolve product and service quality problems; oversees the Lab
Technician; assists Supervisors with "in-house" quality decisions and performs all
required administrative functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Compliance with all safety rules for personnel and facility protection as defined in
the Plant Employee Manual.
• May train Lab Technician and review test results.
• May train Supervisors and Slitter Operators to identify steel defects.
• Trains affected employees in the use of measuring equipment.
• Maintains calibrations on lab test equipment.
• Makes decisions on the conformance of products to customer specifications
during in-process inspections.
• Works with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and Customers on an "in-house"
team to resolve problems as needed.
• Works with Purchasing and Production Planning on material problems and
possible choices of material for a specific job as needed.
• Conduct internal ISO audits as needed.
• Performs testing on production jobs as needed.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Verifies that jobs meet customer requirements.
• Assist Quality Management for projects related to research and development,
production technology, and quality control.
• Maintain and control quality documents.
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements
-2+ years of experience working in quality in the steel industry -Automotive experience
-Experience working with ERP systems
-Some flexibility on daily hours
