Job Summary
Laboratory Services Supervisor
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
Supervise laboratory services within the DermPath Lab for the Department of Dermatology. Oversee all laboratory activities and operations responsible for cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety. Ensure test methodologies provide quality of results required and are in full compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and protocols. Manage planning and development for new laboratory services and expansion of current services. Prepare reports and keep upper-level management informed of progress and problems.

This position will be hired at the Supervisor, Laboratory Services level.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Serves as Lab Supervisor, overseeing all daily operations of laboratory and equipment troubleshooting/maintenance, reporting any major issues to manager.
2. Perform bench work/on the floor workload as scheduled.
3. Creates schedules for the workplace; point person for establishing minute-to-minute adjustments based on unknowns/unforeseen circumstances; informs manager of any substantial changes.
4. Help train and support onboarding of new employees.
5. Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of laboratory personnel, including assessing personnel competencies.
6. Assist in developing and implementing inventory tracking procedures.
7. Assist with document control system (MediaLab), which includes but is not limited to updating Standard Operating Procedures and protocols for CAP readiness.
8. Support in QC and PT participation and oversight.
9. Oversee research and development projects/requests.
10. Responsible for staff scheduling, time cards, training, and supply ordering
11. Other duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
This is a Supervisor-Level position in the Management track.
