Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-2)
Salary: $55,000
A postdoctoral position is available in the ultrafast science theory group of Prof. Lun Yue (https://sites.google.com/binghamton.edu/yue/) at Binghamton University (State University of New York). The successful candidate will conduct research at the intersection of strong-field and attosecond physics, quantum-light-matter interactions, and ultrafast dynamics in atomic, molecular, and condensed-matter systems. Topics include, but are not limited to: the quantum-light description of high-harmonic generation and molecules driven by intense quantum light.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for:
+ Conducting theoretical and computational investigations of attosecond science and quantum light-matter interactions in atomic, molecular, or condensed-matter systems
+ Development and application of theoretical/computational methods to model and interpret strong-field quantum-light-driven phenomena.
+ Publishing results in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific conferences
+ Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
+ Collaborating with experimental and theoretical partners within and outside the group
The researcher will also have the opportunity to pursue independent research initiatives, contingent upon their relevance to ongoing projects and their potential to expand the group's research portfolio.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable upon mutual agreement.
Preferred start date: February 15, 2026, but negotiable.
Job Requirements:
+ Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field by February 15, 2026
Preferred qualifications:
+ Research background in theoretical ultrafast AMO or ultrafast condensed-matter physics
+ Experience with computational modeling, ab-initio quantum dynamics
+ Experience with large-scale code development and running computations on HPC clusters
+ Familiarity with full quantum description of light-matter interactions
+ Experience with collaborating with experimentalists
Visa sponsorship may be available in the J category.
