Description
The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgery Research at the University of Rochester Medical School is seeking exceptional candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor of Surgery. The University of Rochester is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The position is available immediately. The successful applicant will work directly with the clinical division chiefs to grow and diversify the research portfolio as well as mentor clinician-scientists and fundamental scientists to develop independent basic, translational, and outcomes research as well as develop clinical trial principal investigators for both investigator initiated and industry sponsored opportunities. Additionally, this position will work with SMD leadership to implement new tools, training, and resources to increase independent research funding across the Medical Center.

Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Applicants are required to have at least 2-3 years direct hands-on experience in research development and faculty mentorship. Applicants are also required to have working knowledge of research funding landscape and IDE/IND clinical trial requirements. It is preferred, but not required, that applicants have experience as an NIH principal investigator and developing infrastructure for academic biomedical research.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
