JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Elementary General Education Teacher - Short Term Substitute

Beginning 3/26/26 for 12 weeks

Job Description: To facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting student progress and by creating a culturally inviting, flexible, safe and optimal learning environment.

Qualifications:

+ Hold valid New York State School teaching certificate as an Elementary Teacher

+ Knowledge of elementary school curriculum

+ Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy

+ Ability to differentiate instruction

+ Ability to communicate effectively with students and parent(s) guardian (s)

+ Ability to engage in self-evaluation and to incorporate insights gleaned from professional development into practice

+ Ability to gather and analyze data to develop action plans

+ Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students

+ Ability to effectively utilize technology

+ Ability to engage culturally diverse students

+ Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities:

+ Promote a classroom environment that is culturally diverse, safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning

+ Administer elementary curriculum consistent with District goals and objectives

+ Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with NYS Standards

+ Engage in professional learning to stay abreast of current developments in the educational field

+ Organize and maintain an effective system for maintaining accurate records for grading and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws

+ Foster positive home school connections with families and encourage parent/guardian involvement

+ Establish and maintain standards of students behavior in the classroom

+ Work collaboratively with all staff members

+ Select appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment

+ Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs

+ Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Administrator and other district office administrators

Terms of Employment:

The position of General Education Teacher is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers’ Association.

Evaluation: Per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers’ Association.

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary:Minimum starting salary $225/day (negotiable based on experience), as per the Victor Teachers' Association agreement. The VTA contract can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
