Role summary

KBR is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Integration Engineer to join our team in Beavercreek, OH. The ideal candidate will be expert in API web design with a Secret DoW clearance.

Key responsibilities

+ Define and govern the API‑first contracts that modularize the simulation core and onboard legacy tools as modern services

+ Ensure transparency, repeatability, and security across all integrations (tools, data, metadata, orchestration)

+ Design REST/gRPC APIs and GraphQL schemas for simulation core services: timing, state‑of‑play, user input, orchestration

+ Lead API governance: versioning, schema evolution (OpenAPI/JSON Schema/proto), deprecation policy, and documentation

+ Wrap existing simulation/wargaming tools as secure web services via SDKs; standardize authentication/authorization (OIDC/JWT) and mTLS

+ Implement API gateway patterns: routing, rate limiting, quotas, request validation, and zero‑trust controls

+ Model metadata & lineage: tagging of tools/inputs/results; expose reconciliation endpoints for VV\&A, fidelity compatibility assessment, and repeatability

Work Environment:

+ Location: On-site/Hybrid/Remote

+ Travel Requirements: 15%

+ Working Hours: Standard

Qualifications:

Required:

+ 5–8+ years in API design/integration; strong OpenAPI, JSON Schema, protobuf/gRPC, and GraphQL experience

+ Security: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, policy enforcement; experience with gateway technologies

+ Data modeling, metadata/lineage design, and auditability for regulated domains

+ Active DoW Secret clearance

Desired:

+ Experience integrating legacy/constructive simulation systems into modern API ecosystems

+ Event streaming (Kafka/NATS) for asynchronous workflows and telemetry

+ Comfortable designing interfaces for multi‑classification operations

+ Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
