    Our Team:

    Our team supports the SOC (Stations Operations Center) by delivering tools and technology to improve the operations and customer experience by minimizing delays and cancellations.     Job overview and responsibilities:

    The purpose of the Senior Manager IT, Application Development position is to lead a development team in the continued design and development of SOC operations tools. This position will collaborate extensively with our business partners to design, develop, and integrate user interfaces and services that meet the business needs. This position will have a strong focus on Agile development, thinking out of the box, and robust technology delivery with the ability to influence innovation within the SOC Space.

     

    Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both senior and operating level business leaders

     

    Understand and provide recommendations for improvement of Business Processes by leveraging existing IT capabilities, identifying improvements to existing IT capabilities and define new strategic IT capabilities

     

    Stay abreast of business of business strategy, goals, objectives and operational performance

     

    Be a Thought Partner, i.e. engaged with Business Owners/Business Process Development

     

    Act as the point of contact and facilitate the work request demand and prioritization process

     

    Educate business partners on roles, responsibilities, processes and deliverables required to ensure effective delivery of new technology solutions

     

    Responsible for escalating, assisting and follow-through on resolution of issues related to delivery of technology solutions

     

    Engage and ensure effective delivery of business deliverables and tasks with business partners for delivery of technology solutions (development of business requirements, scope management, training business change management and deployment)

     

    Interacts directly with the client and support team members across the IT organization

    Delivery/Support:

    Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with business partners

     

    Accountable for effective project management and delivery of work requests and projects within committed budget, schedule and quality for individual projects while also meeting overall department performance goals

     

    Accountable for identifying needs, securing commitments and monitoring progress of deliverables from internal and external service provider teams

     

    Provide cost estimates and business case updates

     

    Accountable for ensuring technology solutions comply with architectural standards

     

    Responsible for communication of progress to senior IT and Business leadership

     

    Responsible for organizing and maintaining performance of any application issues in accordance with agreed SLA

     

    Decision making responsibility within the discipline and escalates any issues which cannot be resolved to the Managing Director

     

    Tasked with understanding all of the operating policies and procedures of the enterprise

     

    IT Process Mgmt. and Administrative:

     

    Accountable for administrative management of 15-20 IT professionals, either as direct reports or sourced – HR administration, Salary administration, Time Reporting, etc.

     

    Define, prioritize, allocate resources, track and provide status reporting of work assignments, projects, programs

     

    Budget and cost management for the projects/programs

     

    Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed

     

    Provide information and periodic updates to support overall IT performance metrics, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering

    5 to 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience

     

    At least 12 months of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

     

    Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/process

    Preferred Qualifications:

    +5 years of application development experience (object-oriented programming experience, ASP.NET, .Net, REST, MVC, SQL, JavaScript…etc.). Experience managing CI/CD pipelines

     

    Strong knowledge and experience migrating applications from on-prem to cloud

     

    Robust understanding for application security and vulnerability essentials, PII, identity and access management (IAM), OWASP top 10.

     

    At least 4-6 years of technical leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

     

    Requires advanced technical and business knowledge for a secure software development life cycle (SDLC) framework, quality assurance, project and product management and other related disciplines/processes

     

    In-depth applied knowledge of agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)

     

    Proven expertise in design and implementation of highly complex IT solutions

     

    Awareness of industry best practices, research to drive innovative solutions

     

    Vendor Management – The ability to manage external vendor relationships professionally, to United’s best interests

     

    A passion for details and quality in delivery

     

    Strong planning and organizational skills with proven track-record of ownership and delivery

     

    Ability to work independently and self-motivate

     

    Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills to clearly present ideas to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences

     

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

     

    Responsible and Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

     

    MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or another related field

     

    Airline/MRO Experience is a plus

     

    Experience managing offshore/nearshore resources/teams

     

    The base pay range for this role is $137,275.00 to $178,670.00.

     

    The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
