Overview
The Colliers Engineering & Design Planning team is seeking a creative and technically proficient Landscape Designer to join our collaborative design team in New York State.
This role supports the development of high-quality landscape architecture projects from visioning and concept design through construction documentation. The Landscape Designer will assist with visioning, plan development, site analysis, design, and detailing; prepare plans, specifications, and construction documents; and contribute to the development of visualizations, renderings, and presentation materials.
Working under the guidance of senior staff, this position offers the opportunity to strengthen technical skills, gain experience across all project phases, and grow toward professional licensure while contributing to innovative and sustainable design solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Support the design process across all phases: concept, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
+ Create visual presentations, renderings, and illustrative graphics to communicate design intent.
+ Apply visual organization and graphic design skills to reports and deliverables.
+ Engages with internal staff and the public with strong oral presentations and writing (memos, emails, reports).
+ Balance multiple projects and projects of multiple types and scales (community plans, feasibility studies, master plans, schematic site designs, etc).
+ Contribute to site analysis, base mapping, and technical detailing.
+ Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
+ Participate in internal design charrettes and collaborate closely with senior designers and project managers.
+ Attend client and site meetings; prepare meeting minutes and follow-up materials.
+ Assist with preparation and facilitation of public meetings.
+ Help ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
+ Engage in professional development, learning firm standards, and contributing to design discussions.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.
+ 1-4 years of related experience to Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design.
+ Desire to pursue licensure (not required at time of hire).
+ Enthusiastic about creative design processes and working with a multi-disciplinary team.
+ Self-motivated and ability to work as both a team and independently.
+ Visionary and creative mindset.
+ Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office, and SketchUp.
+ Familiar with 3D rendering tools such as Lumion, Enscape, D5 (preferred but not required).
+ Familiar with LandFX (preferred but not required).
+ GPS/GIS experience a plus.
+ Demonstrate advanced investigative, analytical, and research skills.
+ Skilled in graphic presentations.
+ Ability to prioritize tasks and overall workload.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrate advanced technical and nontechnical writing, editing and proofreading skills.
+ Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $64,000 to $84,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
