**_Trinity Health Livonia Hospital_** is a beautiful full-service, 304-bed acute care hospital, located in Livonia, MI, that provides comprehensive care, including a 24-hour emergency department, general medicine, inpatient and outpatient surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, intensive care unit, cancer, cardiology, geriatrics and birthing and women's health. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, coordinates the daily activities of assigned staff and ensures the validity of test results. Performs specialized and/or innovative testing and analyses. Serves as a technical resource person providing guidance and direction to staff.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE
Education
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
+ Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, MT (ASCP)
+ National Certifying Agency or registered in specialty area or equivalent
Training and Experience
+ Minimum of four (4) to five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Blood Bank/Transfusion Services, one or two years in a leadership role preferred.
+ Ability to work independently.
+ A high level of organization is expected along with attention to detail and follow-thru.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with a variety of laboratory personnel, patients and other medical professionals.
Job Knowledge
+ Leadership skills to provide guidance to a group of technical and non-technical staff.
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and positively with all levels of management, all external contacts including physicians and patients.
+ Exceptional problem-solving ability is required with an emphasis on solving system-related problems.
+ A high level of organization is expected along with an attention to detail and follow-through.
+ Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job including personal computers, laboratory information system, printers, faxes and telephones Must know payroll system and complete payroll requirements daily.
