How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
This Specialist role will manage the day-to-day administration of the workers' compensation program. This position will serve as a professional subject matter expert in the area of workers’ compensation benefits to all divisions and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations while minimizing financial risk to the organization.
This position will be based in the Atlanta General Office and report to the Manager, Workers’ Compensation under the Global Health & Wellbeing (GHW) organization.
+ Manage the day-to-day administration of the workers' compensation programs.
+ Responsible for the oversight of claimsmanagement and communication with employees, managers, attorneys, andThird-Party Administrator (TPA).
+ Serve as workers' compensation professional subject matter expert for assigned jurisdictions tosupport all divisions, departments and business partners across Delta. Internalbusiness partners include but are not limited to Human Resources, Corporate Safety,Corporate Security, Labor Relations, Legal, and Operational/Station Management,IFS, ACS, CGO and FOP.
+ Proactively provide guidance andongoing education to internal and external customers on Delta Air Lines and/orState-specific workers' compensation policies and procedures.Assist in the education of internal businesspartners of the importance of early claim reporting, early return to workprograms and other appropriate cost containment measures that will providepositive outcomes for all parties involved.
+ Identify trends in service concerns,recommend the appropriate course of action for improvement and development ofvendor performance standards and adherence to contractual requirements. Ensurethat claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable stateregulations, work comp laws, corporate policies and other legalrequirements.Ensure compliance withrelevant laws and regulations while minimizing financial risk to theorganization.
+ Work closely with TPA and Delta HR to identify,de-escalate and document current or potential escalation situations, reachingout to employees when issues arise in order to provide high levels of customerservice and employee advocacy.
+ Help to identify areas of opportunity in thehighly integrated workers' compensation programs and work with managementand operations to streamline processes.
+ Primary contact for Delta, TPA, Defense Counsel;responsible for monitoring claims handling for quality purposes andmonitoring/participating in litigation processes with a goal of bringinglitigated files to claims resolution.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
+ 3 to 5 years of workers’ compensation claims management and/or TPA vendor oversight experiencewith a large employer-based company.
+ Abilityto meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision and respondquickly to high priority requests.
+ Experience inAccess, Excel, MS Office suite of products, and SAP.
+ Ability to useInsurance Carrier/TPA data and claims management systems to analyze claimdata.
+ Understanding oftechnical claims procedures, medical protocols and Insurance Industry BestPractices.
+ Ability to practicegood judgment in interpreting medical facts presented by a physician andapplying these facts while reviewing workers compensation files.
+ Excellent critical,logical-thinking, analytical, and research skills.
+ Must demonstrateclear, concise, and effective oral and written communication skills. Conveymoderately complex information (claim decisions, outcomes, etc.) to allappropriate parties, while maintaining a professional demeanor in allsituations.
+ Ability toanticipate and identify problems and suggest opportunities/solutions.
+ Must possess the abilityto effectively interact with a variety of individuals within the company,clients, carriers, and third-party vendor organizations.
+ Must be versatile,resilient, responsive to change, and adapt to unexpected demands based onbusiness needs.
+ Should possess anoverall knowledge of company policies and procedures.
+ Good timemanagement, multi-tasking, project management and organizational skills with greatattention to detail.
+ Must be able totravel 30%-40%, when required.
+ Consistently prioritizessafety and security of self, others, and personal data.
+ Embraces diverse people,thinking, and styles.
+ Is at least 18 years ofage and has authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, Risk Management, Human Resources Management, BSN, Vocational Rehabilitation, or closely related field.
+ Experience in aviation is a plus
+ Prior work comp experience within MN, MI, NY, CA, WA and OH jurisdictions is a plus
