    Job Title: Electrical Engineer

    Job Description

    As an Electrical Engineer, you will design state-of-the-art products for the utility inspection market using embedded vision systems to create cutting-edge designs. You will engage in designing, debugging, and testing prototype components and circuit card assemblies while collaborating within a cross-functional organization. Your work will include motor control, analog, digital, and high-speed design. You will also have the opportunity to lead project teams, provide work direction to other engineers, lead engineering-wide process improvements, write standards as a subject matter expert, and act as a product owner.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and layout complex circuitry containing brushed and brushless motor controls.

    + Create complex electronic circuits, subsystems, systems, and products.

    + Perform schematic capture and PCB layout for analog, digital, microprocessor, high voltage/power circuitry, and motor control circuitry.

    + Write test plans and conduct evaluation testing during the design process.

    + Provide technical support for existing products, including quality assessment, failure analysis, and product improvement activities.

    + Serve as a point of contact or business liaison, prepare briefings for management, and assist in problem resolution specific to the program/project.

    + Review and approve subcontractor plans, including specifications and objectives, work breakdown structure, and schedules.

    + Participate and lead project teams and activities related to the development of new products and support existing products.

    + Write manufacturing and test procedures and reports.

    + Provide technical support to sales and marketing for bids and proposals.

    Essential Skills

    + Circuit design, Firmware, PCB Layout, Circuit simulation, Electronics.

    + 7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.

    + Experience with motion control and motor control design.

    + Extensive experience with schematic capture and PCB layout, preferably using Altium.

    + Experience with circuit simulation tools like Pspice and LTSpice.

    + Familiarity with Microprocessor/Microcontroller Development Tools.

    + Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electronic systems.

    + Knowledge of engineering design principles and practices.

    + Proficiency in standard Office Tools (Word, Excel, Acrobat).

    + Experience taking a design from concept to mass production.

    + Technical competency commensurate with BSEE degree or equivalent.

    + Ability to understand detailed component and product specifications.

    + Ability to use standard laboratory test equipment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Familiarity with Data Analysis Tools (e.g., Matlab).

    + Knowledge of grounding, noise mitigation, and EMI reduction techniques.

    + Experience with designing for CE, FCC, TUV, UKCA, and other certifying bodies.

    + Experience with designing for manufacturability and serviceability.

    + Proficiency in the design and layout of multilayer SMD/thru-hole mixed signal PCBs up to 8 layers using Altium Designer or equivalent.

    + Hand soldering and rework skills for troubleshooting and prototyping designs.

    + Power supply design to support analog & digital circuitry and experience with low noise & moderate bandwidth PCB layout & implementation.

    + Experience with single and multi-element optical detectors and their readout circuits.

    + Experience with camera vision systems.

    + Familiarity with optical sources and their drive circuits.

    + Digital design knowledge, including digital MEMS sensors and industry standard data interfaces.

    + Experience in motion control of DC brushed/brushless and stepper motors.

    + Experience in ARM PCB layout and design.

    + Embedded programming experience in up to 32-bit microcontrollers, with Freescale processor knowledge.

    + Competency in creating test code in micro-controller/DSP firmware in C/C++.

    + FPGA design, simulation, synthesis & implementation in VHDL.

    + Interfacing FPGA to standard peripherals and microcontrollers.

    + Analog Front End devices for input signal processing and low noise analog signal processing devices.

    + A/D converter implementation: 12-18 bit ADCs.

    Work Environment

    The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule with a hybrid arrangement, requiring at least three days per week in the office. Most work is conducted in an office environment, with occasional visits to utility or contractor facilities for research and testing. Overnight travel may be required as needed.

    This is a Contract position based out of Orlando, FL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $67.00/hr.
