As the Data Science Intern with Rocket Loans, you will have an active role in the Lending, Credit, Capital Markets group.

About the role

+ Test, validate and reformulate models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest.

+ Research advanced modeling methods as solutions to real business problems and present findings.

+ Partner with Data Engineering to source and stage new datasets, build reproducible data pipelines for model training, scoring, performance monitoring, and reporting.

+ Create QA and automated validation steps for new credit data integrations.

+ Design experiments and provide statistically grounded recommendations.

+ Present findings to business stakeholders across Marketing, Credit, and Capital Markets.

Marketing Mix & Attribution

+ Explore scope and possibly build a prototype of **MMM and or MTA models** (Bayesian, regression-based, or ML-based) to estimate ROI and identify optimal budget allocation.

+ Explore user-level data such impressions, click at the campaign, and marketing channel level.

+ Quantify marginal return curves, saturation, diminishing returns, and optimal spend levels.

+ Explore and iterate on Direct Mail Response Model (extend to uplift model, MMM or MTA).

Data Engineering & Pipelines

+ Build end-to-end ML pipelines using Python, Spark, Databricks, or MLflow.

+ Automate and iterate on current pipelines ingesting of 100M+ row vendor datasets and create scalable preprocessing workflows.

+ Implement monitoring dashboards tracking drift, data quality, and model stability.

New Product & Modeling Research

+ Investigate modeling strategies for emerging channels (e.g. AI search / GEO, new Direct Mail products, new credit features).

+ Work on a project of interest such as prototype algorithms that improve marketing efficiency or enhance personalization strategies (that solves a business problem).

About** **you

Minimum Qualifications

+ Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, master’s degree, or Ph.D. in technical fields such as data science, applied mathematics, statistics or computer science.

+ Experience of statistical methods generally and particularly in the areas of modeling and business analytics.

+ Ability to communicate insights clearly in both technical and non-technical settings.

+ Proficient knowledge of Python or R.

+ Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Strong quantitative and analytical skills and interest in applying machine learning to real business problems.

+ Familiarity with PySpark, SQL, and common ML libraries (pandas, sklearn, XGBoost, statsmodels, etc.).

+ Curiosity, ownership, and a desire to work with large datasets and meaningful business problems.
