Controls Engineer / Automation Specialist

Overview:

Join a leading manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered systems for rendering, processing, and material handling solutions. Key Responsibilities:

+ PLC & HMI Programming: Develop and configure PLC and HMI systems for equipment control, both in-house and at customer sites.

+ Technical Support: Respond to customer inquiries regarding previously delivered products and provide troubleshooting assistance.

+ Electrical Design: Create single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and site plans for new and existing systems, including motor and device layouts.

+ Material Specification: Collaborate with purchasing to identify and source electrical components and materials.

+ Failure Analysis: Investigate product failures, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

+ On-Site Support: Assist customers and contractors during installation, commissioning, and equipment startup phases.

Required Skills & Experience:

+ Core Skills:

+ PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)

+ HMI development

+ Electrical wiring and installation

+ Control system design and commissioning

+ Experience with Wonderware software

+ Technical Tools:

+ AutoCAD (2D & 3D)

+ Inventor (preferred)

+ Microsoft Excel & Word

+ ERP systems (Epicor experience is a plus)

+ Simulation tools (ANSYS or similar preferred)

Qualifications:

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software; Inventor experience is a strong plus.

+ Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and data analysis.

+ Ability to travel for on-site support and commissioning.

+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
