Water Treatment Systems Technician

This individual will support the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water treatment systems, including filtration units, pumps, and piping. This hands-on role involves fieldwork such as sampling, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with strict safety and environmental standards. The position combines technical expertise with scientific precision in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities
+ Operate and maintain water treatment systems, including pumps and valves.
+ Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
+ Collect water, groundwater, and soil samples in the field.
+ Perform mechanical work related to pipes and water treatment systems.
+ Troubleshoot field issues independently, especially while on call.
+ Respond promptly to system shutdowns and alarms, including after-hours and weekend support when on call.
+ Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with team members, as the plant operates 24/7.
+ Perform and record meter readings (flow, pressure, and totalizer) to monitor system performance.
+ Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
+ Maintain accurate logs and reports of daily operations.
+ Utilize effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
+ Prepare reports and documentation of field activities.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in environmental science or water treatment preferred.
+ 1–3 years of experience in water treatment, environmental remediation, or related field.
+ Knowledge of pumps, valves, and filtration systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
+ Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
+ Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
+ Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain security clearance if required.
+ Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
+ Compliance with environmental health and safety policies and site-specific safety plans.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with relevant field experience is a plus.
+ Experience in environmental remediation or related fields.
+ Ability to engage in EHS leadership roles, directing, mentoring, and training staff in EHS activities.
Work Environment
The position is based in Honolulu, HI, with no relocation assistance available. The work involves outdoor activities in various terrains and weather conditions. The role requires physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods. On-call availability is required as the plant operates 24/7, with a rotating schedule for weekend coverage among team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $34.00/hr.
