The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
+ Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and fulfill all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
+ Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate.
+ Package specimens for transport, ensuring correct temperature and procedure compliance.
+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.
Essential Skills
+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
+ Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 2-4 years of recent phlebotomy experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
+ Strong data entry and customer service skills.
+ Ability to perform 40-50 draws per day.
Work Environment
The role is based at a diagnostic lab across from Northside Hospital, featuring four draw rooms and an OTS room, working as part of a team. The position involves 40-50 draws per day and training with the site coordinator for approximately 2-3 weeks. The work schedule is the 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, and FMLA coverage is available. The role requires punctuality, customer friendliness, teamwork, and reliable attendance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
