Job Title: Lead Systems EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to drive the engineering development effort, overseeing the design, execution, and implementation of engineering processes. This role requires collaboration with the Chief Engineer and Project Manager to ensure project success, from initial design to performance verification.

Responsibilities

+ Design the engineering development effort and lead the execution and implementation of the engineering process.

+ Accountable for the technical team, engineering plan, execution, and performance.

+ Define and meet program technical resource needs by working with functional organizations.

+ Manage resource needs and lead engineering activities for a cross-functional team.

+ Execute program plans to conform to cost, schedule, and performance commitments.

+ Support technical leadership on product design, development, and improvement projects.

+ Represent project team efforts to the engineering functional organization and Project Manager.

+ Provide regular updates to the Program Management Office and senior leadership.

+ Communicate with professionals, solution users, and management throughout the solution development cycle.

+ Present engineering work products in periodic and milestone reviews to senior staff and customers.

+ Organize engineering work to support the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and budget.

+ Lead development of engineering inputs to program IMS and prioritize tasks.

+ Manage engineering processes: design, development, integration, test, and performance verification.

+ Ensure integration of the engineering solution within the overall environment.

+ Lead the engineering product development process through major program milestone reviews.

+ Formulate long-term plans for solution development, documentation, and deployment.

+ Support development of interface control documents, specifications, and test plans.

+ Guide the integration, verification, validation, and documentation of requirements.

+ Maintain comprehensive notes/records and provide formal documentation.

+ Support proposals/white papers and interface with customers.

+ Work with functional engineering leads to develop Basis of Estimates for project support.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline, with progressive experience.

+ 15+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 13+ years with a master's, or 10+ years with a PhD.

+ Broad technical expertise and application of engineering principles and practices.

+ Significant experience in project management, leadership, communication, and systems engineering.

+ Expertise in at least one technical discipline such as power electronics, energy storage, or optical systems.

+ Detailed knowledge of systems engineering processes and system verification and validation.

+ Experience with contractual documents and statement of work requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline preferred.

+ Detailed working knowledge of PLM/Windchill.

+ Experience with Requirements Management Systems and DOD systems lifecycle planning.

+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Poway, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $230000.00/yr.

401K, annual bonus, competitive salary
