Job Title: Controls SpecialistJob Description
As a Controls Specialist, you will work both individually and collaboratively to support capital projects and implement solutions. Your role will be integral in helping achieve critical improvements and the most important goals.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinate work schedules and manpower forecasts for operations technicians.
+ Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies related to the schedule or quality of Basebuild utility systems post-construction installation.
+ Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.
+ Provide reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.
+ Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.
+ Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on assigned projects.
+ Train suppliers in commissioning software systems.
+ Manage supplier access to commissioning software systems.
+ Interface with engineering design team members and client representatives.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years' experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.
+ Experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and Control Logix hardware and software.
+ Experience with large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators.
+ Strong understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).
+ Knowledge of complex process systems architecture & design, Instrumentation, Device Selection, Networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.
+ Working knowledge of environments such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.
+ Proficient in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting presentations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a similar technical field (preferred).
+ Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering or a related field.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
+ Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
+ Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
+ Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA is a plus.
+ Experience conducting I/O checkouts.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
Work Environment
This role involves traveling to projects in South Bend, Indiana, with Per Diem included. You will be working 40-50 hours per week.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of New Carlisle, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
