This position is for a 2nd shift (2pm-11pm) Plant Quality Engineer. The role involves ensuring that products and processes adhere to all standards and requirements. Participation in quality-improvement initiatives, performing quality reviews and internal audits, evaluating data, and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards are key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role includes analyzing statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives for finished products, as well as recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capability limits. A significant part of the role involves containment when issues arise internally or from customers, followed by problem solving and corrective actions.
Responsibilities
+ Recommend quality improvement by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
+ Research statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error rate, determining levels of confidence.
+ Analyze quality data from plant processes or customer indicators.
+ Provide feedback to customers based on quality projects (e.g., warranty, APQP, issues, etc.).
+ Lead quality investigations and problem solving.
+ Research statistical reliability by using mean time before failure, reliability modeling, and reliability demonstration tests.
+ Develop quality improvement experiments by applying full and fractional factorial techniques.
+ Develop sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods.
+ Maintain statistical process controls by applying demerit/unit, zone charting, and charts for distributions and individual-media/range for multi-stream processes.
+ Analyze data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.
+ Prepare statistical information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
+ Contribute to quality engineering and organizational success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
+ 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive environment.
+ IATF / automotive experience.
+ Proven troubleshooting / root cause analysis (8D or Shainin).
+ Experience doing containment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Gage experience.
+ CMM experience - read and use CMMs.
Work Environment
The role operates on the 2nd shift and involves reporting to one of the quality coordinators. The team consists of 10 Quality Engineers reporting to 3 different quality coordinators. The work is approximately 60% on the floor and 40% at a desk, supporting plant operations. Standard hours are from 6am-3pm, with an expectation of working 50 hours a week. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Three Rivers, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
