Description
The Design Engineer is responsible for creating and developing specialized body structures and components for heavy-duty applications. This role focuses on ensuring designs meet durability, safety, and regulatory standards while optimizing for manufacturability and operational efficiency in demanding environments. Key Responsibilities: - Develop CAD models and detailed drawings for large-scale body structures and related components. - Design structural reinforcements to withstand high loads, vibrations, and harsh operating conditions. - Integrate hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems into designs. - Provide manufacturing support, addressing design-for-manufacturability and assembly issues. - Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to customize solutions for specific applications. - Conduct FEA and stress analysis to validate structural performance under heavy loads. - Support prototype builds and oversee field testing for durability and safety. - Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions. - Prepare technical documentation, BOMs, and assembly instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar). Strong knowledge of heavy-duty materials (high-strength steel, aluminum alloys, composites). Familiarity with manufacturing processes: welding, machining, forming, and assembly. Experience with FEA tools for load and fatigue analysis. Understanding of chassis dynamics, suspension systems, and load distribution. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 3–7 years of experience in structural design for heavy-duty applications. Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic system integration preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
