    Job Title: Packaging Associate

    Job Description

    We are seeking a mechanically minded individual who is eager to learn and grow in the print industry. As a packaging associate, you will be sorting, packing, packaging, and pelleting paper products. You will be required to lift at least 50lbs and be moving around on your feet all day. This position requires working the night shift from 11pm-7am, Monday through Friday for $16-18/hour.

    Responsibilities

    + Review work orders and specifications, including size, color, substrate, and quantity.

    + Load appropriate media such as paper, board, or plastic into the press.

    + Prepare digital files for printing, ensuring correct color profiles and resolution.

    + Operate digital press equipment like HP Indigo, Xerox iGen, and Ricoh.

    + Monitor print runs for consistency and quality, adjusting settings as needed.

    + Inspect printed sheets for defects and perform test prints.

    + Ensure compliance with customer and company standards.

    + Clean and maintain press components and perform routine calibration.

    + Troubleshoot mechanical or software issues to minimize downtime.

    + Manage inventory of substrates and inks/toners.

    + Ensure proper storage and handling of materials.

    + Record production data and communicate with supervisors about job status.

    + Follow safety protocols for handling chemicals and machinery.

    + Maintain a clean and organized work area.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in a warehouse environment and machine operation.

    + Ability to lift 50 lbs

    + Ability to read, write, and understand English

    + Experience a manufacturing or warehouse environment

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 1 – 3+ years of previous print industry experience is a plus.

    + Ability to navigate through multiple computer screens quickly and efficiently.

    + Experience operating HP and other digital equipment is advantageous.

    Work Environment

     

    This position requires working the night shift from 11pm-7am, Monday through Friday. The dress code includes jeans, a work-appropriate shirt, and steel-toed boots. You will work in a very clean print shop where machines are well-maintained and the environment is not dirty.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, IA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr.
