    Job Description

    Assists Cardiologist in performing phased array Echocardiography. Trained in all other procedures.

    Job Responsibility

    + * Prepares patient and equipment for procedure.

    + Reviews Echocardiogram requisition as ordered by Cardiologist.

    + Notifies Nursing Unit of scheduled patient exam and coordinates time and transport of patient to exam room.

    + Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.

    + Explains procedures in layman terms to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.

    + Makes settings on machines to obtain desired results, using technical judgment and following established standards.

    + * Monitors patient condition by direct observation to recognize and report abnormalities to the Radiologist.

    + * Performs minor repairs and adjustments of equipment when necessary.

    + Documents efficiency of equipment to ensure quality control.

    + Troubleshoots mechanical problems of the equipment by performing minor repairs, as necessary.

    + Recognizes and reports major problems to management for resolution.

    + Performs related duties, as required.

    *ADA Essential Functions

    Job Qualification

    + High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

    + Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Physics and familiarity with pertinent medical/surgical diseases as normally acquired by the completion of a Bachelors Degree, required.

    + Graduation from an AMA approved Ultrasound training program.Current New York State certification as Diagnostic Sonographer, preferred.

    + Registry eligible by National Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

    The salary range for this position is $67.3941-$67.3941/hour
