Quality Technician

GENERAL PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring all sorting activities are aligned with Smurfit Westrock\u2019s AQL Standards, aligned with acceptable defect tolerances, and customer specifications prior to releasing for shipment. The QC Sorting Inspector will report directly to the Quality Control Lead, and ultimately the site\u2019s Quality Manager. The QC Sorting Inspector will ensure that data is collected for product being sorted including hours spent in sorting activities, along with scrap quantities to ensure inventory accuracy. The QC Sorting Inspector will prioritize sorting activities at the direction of the Quality Lead and site Quality Manager to ensure timely release of sorted material for shipment to meet the customer\u2019s demands.

\u2022 A very clear understanding of what is good, acceptable product and what is non-conforming.
\u2022 A very clear understanding of their role in ensuring the quality of the product in the operation.
\u2022 A very clear understanding of all quality documentation procedures.
\u2022 The ability to read and understand customer specifications.
\u2022 Follows all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department.
\u2022 Performs all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
\u2022 Follows instructions accurately.
\u2022 Maintains records of daily activities and results, using specified forms
\u2022 Keeps work area neat and clean.
\u2022 Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
\u2022 Knowledge of the folding carton manufacturing process.
\u2022 Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, customer specifications, and quality procedures.
\u2022 Must have basic computer skills - data entry.
\u2022 Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtraction, multiplication and division.
\u2022 Must be able to maintain good attendance.
\u2022 Must pass color vision test.
\u2022 Must pass color hue test.
\u2022 Must be able to ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers and all other testing equipment.
\u2022 Must have ability to recognize common packaging defects (cracking, sharpness, heavy scores, line-up, tearing, flat scores, one-sided scores, light cutting, loose fibers, pressure marks, etc.).
\u2022 Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
\u2022 Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
