Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness. This role involves preparing and completing monthly general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, assisting with month-end close activities, and maintaining organized workpapers.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
+ Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
+ Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis.
+ Maintain organized and well-documented workpapers supporting all reconciliations.
+ Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve issues promptly.
+ Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation as needed.
+ Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
Essential Skills
+ 1-3+ years of accounting experience with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
+ Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
+ Intermediate Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in property management or real estate.
+ Understanding of CAM (common area maintenance) charges.
+ Experience transitioning from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
+ Experience with tax preparation support and year-end filings.
+ Experience working with trusts or multi-entity structuring.
Work Environment
The work schedule is from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Once trained, you will have the opportunity to work from home on Fridays, typically after the first or second month. While on contract, enjoy 6 paid holidays per year and 1 week PTO accrued annually. Upon permanent employment, benefit from a competitive salary, a 401K program with annual match, medical insurance (company covers 70%), vision and dental insurance, and 40 hours of paid vacation after 6 months. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr.
