•Ensure that qualifications and exclusions reflect the specific conditions or constraints of the project and protect the company from unforeseen cost overruns.

•Communicate any uncertainties or potential areas of risk to the internal team and customers during bid preparation.

    Material & System Knowledge:

•Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ICT materials, equipment, and systems, including advancements in low-voltage solutions, data cabling, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure.

•Apply expert knowledge of ICT materials and systems to create competitive and accurate estimates, factoring in compatibility, scalability, and future-proofing considerations.

•Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain up-to-date pricing and availability for key materials and systems.

    Quality Control:

•Perform detailed cross-checks of estimates with internal documentation and project scopes to minimize errors.

•Identify potential areas for cost-saving without compromising project quality, and highlight them during bid reviews.

    Design-Build & Budget Estimates:

•Develop design-build estimates by working with clients, architects, and engineers to create rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) budgets based on concept drawings or incomplete designs.

•Provide cost-saving recommendations or alternative approaches to help clients stay within budgetary constraints.

•Demonstrate the ability to provide accurate and reliable estimates even with limited information, leveraging past project experience.

    Bid Follow-up:

•Regularly follow up on submitted bids to understand the outcome, receive feedback, and refine future proposals.

•Maintain communication with customers throughout the bid evaluation process, addressing questions, concerns, and clarifications as needed.

•Document customer feedback to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of future bids.

    Site Visits:

•Perform virtual site assessments where necessary to ensure estimates are realistic and comprehensive.

•Utilize observations from site visits to adjust estimates, accounting for project-specific challenges like difficult terrain, existing infrastructure, or logistical hurdles.

    Meeting Participation:

•Attend pre-bid meetings, bid reviews, and project kickoff meetings to ensure all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the scope of work and estimate assumptions.

•Actively participate in internal bid review meetings, contributing to discussions about pricing strategy, project approach, and risk mitigation.

•Engage in client meetings to explain and defend estimates, demonstrating confidence in pricing and scope decisions.

•Ensure clients receive timely and transparent communication regarding estimates, pricing changes, and project status.

    Collaboration:

•Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, operations, and project management teams to ensure seamless transitions from estimate to execution.

•Share insights and observations from the estimating process to help refine project scopes, timelines, and budgets.

•Provide constructive feedback to peers and subcontractors to enhance overall performance across projects.

•Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by seeking out training opportunities or certifications that will improve estimating capabilities.

    Career Progression:

•Actively seek opportunities to grow and develop within the role, potentially moving into senior estimator or project management positions.
