CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client.
**Location:** Buffalo, NY
**Duration:** 12 months
Overview:
The Software Engineer II supports enterprise applications and systems with a focus on system administration, application support, and environment management rather than full-time software development. This role provides technical analysis, application administration, production support, and CI/CD operations across Linux and Windows environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Perform and support systems analysis, application configuration, administration, and production support.
+ Act as an individual contributor on complex technical initiatives and operational support efforts.
+ Maintain strong functional and technical knowledge of supported applications and platforms.
+ Administer Linux and Windows servers, Active Directory, and related infrastructure.
+ Develop and maintain automation using SQL, PowerShell, and Linux shell scripting.
+ Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployments using GitLab, Artifactory, and Ansible.
+ Provide daily production and user support, including off-hours implementations and on-call rotation.
+ Participate in testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis.
+ Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and diagrams.
+ Coordinate tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
+ Recommend improvements to systems, tools, processes, and technologies.
+ Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and internal control standards.
+ Collaborate with application teams, operations, business partners, and vendors.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of a Technology Team Lead and operates independently on high-level systems analysis and application administration tasks. May lead or coordinate project-based activities, interact with senior management and vendors, and provide technical support across small to large initiatives.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
+ May provide project-level guidance to less experienced personnel.
+ No direct people management responsibilities.
Education and Experience Required:
+ Associate’s degree and **5 years** of systems analysis, application support, or system administration experience, or **7 years** combined education and experience with at least **5 years** relevant experience.
+ Experience with SQL, PowerShell, and Linux shell scripting.
+ Strong Linux and Windows server administration experience, including Active Directory.
+ Experience managing full SDLC processes, including CI/CD pipelines.
+ Experience with GitLab, Artifactory, Ansible, Agile, Jira, and Confluence.
+ Experience providing production support, user support, and on-call coverage.
+ Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
Education and Experience Preferred:
+ Knowledge of enterprise application frameworks and integrated systems.
+ Subject matter expertise in one or more supported applications or platforms.
+ Experience working independently and in team-based environments.
+ Proactive, detail-oriented, and action-driven approach.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
