COMPENSATION
+ Civil Engineer I - $90,551.00
+ Civil Engineer II - $107,655.00
+ Civil Engineer III - $120,427.00
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent(s) will work as part of a team within the NYCT Maintenance of Ways mandated inspection – Defect Reduction Program, provide technical guidance to Infrastructure Iron, In-house Capital Construction, and the Division of Stations to ensure that our structures are kept in a state of good repair. The selected incumbent will be responsible for structural inspections and reporting, including providing repair recommendations and evaluations. Duties include analyses of existing structures to determine recommendations based on structural deficiencies, preparation of structural designs, calculations and repair plans; analyzing defect data and creating reports; performing cost estimates/project profiles and scopes of work; giving technical and administrative direction to a small team of structural maintainers performing inspections of various NYCT structure types; attending meetings; tracking projects; reviewing Master Plans, scopes of work drawings and specifications; carrying out construction inspections and creation of punch lists for NYCT Capital Design-Build Projects.
The incumbent must be prepared to respond to structural emergencies that may disrupt train service, as required, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position requires both field and office work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Civil Engineer I - III
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four years of full-time
experience in civil engineering. A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited
college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil
engineering.
Special Note:
In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in
Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last
three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project
requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct
the project.
DESIRED SKILLS:
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Knowledge of MS Office suite and internet and mobile applications, as well as Micro Station and nonconformity databases.
+ Knowledge of structural inspection of concrete and steel.
+ Ability to read and write technical drawings and correspondence.
+ In-depth knowledge of construction design and code issues covering multiple city agencies.
