The Technical Director serves as the Defense Systems division’s senior leader for Digital Systems Architecture across Defense Electronics and Space portfolios, including Electronic Warfare, Radar, and Communications systems. This role defines and executes the RF to digital engineering strategy, ensuring systems architectures are optimally designed by coordinating customer requirements and aligning/influencing their technology road maps.
The Technical Director provides both direct leadership of technical teams and functional oversight across the broader engineering organization. This position is a key contributor to technology strategy, customer engagement, and business growth, serving as a senior technical voice with customers, partners, and internal executive leadership.
Strategic & Technical Leadership
+ Develop and own the division’s digital engineering roadmap.
+ Guide architecture decisions for mission-critical systems in electronic warfare, radar, and communication applications.
+ Shape RDE investments through Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and align them with long-term customer and mission needs.
Team & Project Leadership
+ Lead cross-functional engineering teams delivering complex software and digital engineering solutions replacing limited classic RF solutions.
+ Mentor technical talent; grow system architects, principal engineers, and emerging leaders.
+ Oversee resource allocation, budget planning, and technical execution for key programs.
Technical Governance
+ Review and approve system architectures, critical design decisions, and technology selections.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant safety, security, and certification frameworks
Customer & Business Development Support
+ Engage directly with customers to understand mission requirements and strengthen technical relationships.
+ Lead technical solution development for proposals and captures.
+ Partner with Business Development and Program Leadership to position the division competitively in the market.
YOU MUST HAVE
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
+ 13 years’ experience in the Engineering discipline with deep knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques and real-time implementations in Radio Frequency (RF) systems.
+ 10 years experience in aerospace, defense electronics, mission systems, or related high-reliability domains.
+ Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, communicate complex technical concepts, and influence decision-making at executive and customer levels.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen due to contractual requirements
WE VALUE
+ Master’s Degree or 20 or more years’ experience in a technical specialty or Engineering Leadership role
+ Active Secret Security Clearance
+ Well versed in RF system level requirements across multiple domains, including EW, COMMS, RADAR
+ Up to date on broader DoD digital RF battlefield roadmap and strategy
+ Extensive knowledge of digitization techniques and technologies
+ Ability to engage and shape customer requirements and define new products
+ Ability to conceptualize and innovate new RF + DSP solutions for emerging DoD missions needs
+ Experience with government programs, proposal development, secure environments, or technology road mapping.
+ Experience working in and driving results in a matrix organization
The annual base salary range for this position is $190,400-$238,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
