This is a one-year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
**The Auburn University Libraries** seeks an enthusiastic, proactive, and detail-oriented individual to serve as **Research Assistant** . Reporting to the Coordinator of Research Support, the Research Assistant I will assist library personnel in planning, sustaining, and completing research and assessment projects related to the Libraries’ mission and strategic plan. As part of the Innovation and Research Support unit, this position will be expected to work closely with other personnel in the Department, as well as the other units within the Libraries, on new and existing projects. This position is on-site in Auburn, AL.

Essential Functions
+ Assisting with the development of project proposals, plans, and protocols.
+ Conducting investigations, projects, and studies related to Library Innovation and Research Support functions.
+ Collecting, recording, compiling, processing, and analyzing data related to projects.
+ Documenting results in writing as well as presenting results to others.
+ May assist in preparation of results for publication or presentation including assisting in literature reviews and writing of results and discussion.
+ Assisting with electronic forms and other unit related administration duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in content specific area of research.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

+ Ability to understand and break down complex tasks into manageable steps.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a flexible and adaptable attitude.
+ Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Minimum Technology Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office tools including Word and Excel.
Minimum License and Certifications

+ Experience using academic databases to locate scholarly information.
+ Experience with critically evaluating academic sources.
+ Experience with citation management tools such as Endnote or Zotero.
+ Experience with cleaning and visualizing data using software tools such as R, Tableau, or Power BI.
+ Experience in research practices and protocols.
