Description
Lee County Facilities is looking for a responsible and reliable Life Safety Technician. In this role, you will help keep our buildings safe by maintaining fire systems, life safety equipment, and emergency plans. You’ll also assist with cleanup, construction, and disaster response projects when needed. This job is hands-on, safety-focused, and a great opportunity to learn about life safety systems and emergency procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
+ Escort fire system vendors for inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
+ Perform preventive maintenance on fire alarms, sprinklers, pumps, and other safety equipment.
+ Test and exercise life safety systems monthly following NFPA guidelines.
+ Conduct building safety checks and correct unsafe conditions (clear exits, working emergency lights, functional doors, proper labeling, installed Knox boxes, etc.).
+ Respond to emergencies as directed.
+ Help update or implement Emergency Action Plans.
+ Keep management informed about new products, technologies, and training related to life safety and environmental health.
+ Safely use personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in mold remediation, chemical, or biological cleanup situations.
+ Assist with or lead life safety training sessions.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
What We’re Looking For:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ 2 years of trade work or closely related experience, such as:
+ Building maintenance or repair
+ Electrical or mechanical systems maintenance
+ Fire alarm, sprinkler, or other life safety system work
+ Environmental health or safety-related work
+ Construction, demolition, or disaster cleanup support
+ Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
+ Ability to work independently, follow safety rules, and use mechanical and electrical equipment.
+ Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Certifications in Indoor Environmental Quality or disaster response.
+ Knowledge of HVAC systems.
+ Experience handling hazardous materials.
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
