We are currently seeking a qualified **Level 4 Technician** to join our client’s team **onsite** in Hillsboro, OR. This role will work the hours of **6PM - 6AM Sun-Tues/Alt Sat.**
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Performing installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and 7, and Fiber Optic cabling
+ Assisting with material control to ensure all required materials are available to complete the daily work
+ Ensuring quality and safety guidelines are followed
+ Ensuring ticketed requests are assigned, communicated, and addressed within client SLA
+ Performing quality evaluation, diagnosing, troubleshooting of cabling systems, and performing replacement / repairs as necessary
+ Assisting data center teams and data center managers in accomplishing daily infrastructure new landings within SLA
+ Receiving hardware shipments for data center equipment landings
+ Validating purchase order accuracy of hardware received
+ Unboxing and recycling of materials
+ Moving equipment from dock to staging areas and or to DC racks
+ Installation or retrofitting of server racks - rail and shelving installation
+ Power and network cable installation and cable management
+ Scanning and labeling of installed devices (network or server)
+ Designating parts identified for spare part stock inventory
+ Proper e-waste handling and disposal
+ Equipment shipping and receiving as needed
+ Providing escort service for vendors / techs
+ Performing work request tasks from ServiceNow ticket system
+ Proven ability to install cable pathways, conveyances (i.e., ladder, trays, support systems)
+ Knowledge of terminology pertaining to installation and service of cabling infrastructure for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems
+ Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read cable matrix blueprints, mechanical, and or electrical requirement documents
+ Able to complete physical cables installations and removal of cabling components, TOR (top of rack) switches, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, network gear and related communications infrastructure hardware and materials
+ Structured Network Cabling experience
+ Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types RJ45
+ Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types – ST, SC, LC
+ WIFI hardware experience
+ Wireless LAN Controllers
+ Wireless Access Points
+ Networking experience
+ IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc
+ Experienced in Ethernet Switching hardware
+ Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies etc
+ Transceiver Types – SX, LX, SR, LR etc
+ Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge / Experience
+ Fluke Testers: Copper - Wire Map, Link Test etc, Fiber – OTDR Testing
+ Fluke Aircheck: Wireless Testing
+ Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans required (i.e., data center hot isles)
+ Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top of rack installations)
+ Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible
+ Must be able to lift 35 lbs. solo
+ Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car / foot
+ May be required to walk / sit / stand / crawl / kneel for extended periods
+ Must have excellent customer service skills and written / verbal communication skills
+ Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily), Windows 10
+ Intermediate experience with Windows 2022 installation and configuration including:
+ Features need to know roles
+ Disk Management
+ User Administration
+ OS troubleshooting to identify build issues
+ Adding SAN drives/MPIO
+ Network Management
+ Intermediate experience with server hardware Client DL360/380 Gen8, Gen9, Gen10, Gen11 and BL460 Gen8, Gen9, Gen10, and Dell Poweredge R660, R760
+ Experience troubleshooting memory, disk, array controller battery, HBA, FlexLOM issues
+ Raid configuration/ logical drives
+ iLO/iDRAC configuration
+ Servers and C7000 enclosures
+ Onboard Administrator
+ Vsphere 6.5/7.0 vcenter experience
+ Microsoft failover cluster knowledge and installation experience
+ Microsoft NLB cluster knowledge and installation experience
Skills and Qualifications** **:
+ Associate or bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
+ Minimum 4+ years of combined experience in a site support technician and / or infrastructure technician role (or similar experience)
+ Data Center experience required
+ Minimum 3+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support of networking or server devices required
+ Minimum 3+ years of combined experience working in data centers, labs, or server room environments required
+ Maintaining network environment as part of onsite team in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Incident and or Requests
+ Providing incident support by working with remote level 2 / 3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components
+ Providing service request support and working with remote network support teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers
+ Participating in hardware rack and stack installation of both network and server equipment, cable management, and installation of required fiber and copper patch leads, providing console access to remote team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration
Data Center Maintenance:
+ Proactive walkthrough for failed hardware
+ Physical audit of supported systems
+ Proper disposal of hardware and media following client guidelines
+ Manage incident & request tickets assigned to queue
+ Validate server(s) / task
+ Contact client for information / request downtime etc.
+ Diagnose problem, remotely if possible / on site if required – order parts as required
+ Repair / replace / configure as required within scope
+ Complete paperwork
Landings:
+ Validate server(s) landing requirements
+ Contact client as required for information
+ Physical land of hardware in correct location
+ Build to proper configuration according to client requirements and cut sheet
+ Request tasks from required groups for additional services
+ Monitor tasks for completion or problems and escalate to appropriate parties to resolve
+ Update asset tracking system with server name, location, and owner
Decoms:
+ Validate server
+ Inform client of decom
+ Request decom tasks from required groups to remove server(s) from their services
+ Validate that dependent services have been halted
+ Power off and remove server(s)
+ Dispose of hardware as requested by owner
BackUp / BAR Support:
+ Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 or 3 specialist or client BaR contacts
+ Coordinate tasks with other client techs
+ Physical installation of backup hardware
+ Install operating system on backup server hardware
+ Maintain client required training
Media Management:
+ Eject tapes from tape libraries in accordance with disaster recovery targets
+ Prepare and ship tapes to offsite storage vendor
+ Receive tapes from offsite storage vendor
+ Load tape libraries with tapes for Scratch Pool; new, returned expired, recalled for on-demand restores
+ Perform post-tape load processes on tape libraries
+ Recall tapes from offsite storage vendor
+ Manage on-site surplus tape inventory
+ Manage the tape lifecycle using backup and library software, and any third-party tools
+ Dispose of damaged or EOL tapes in accordance with client information security policies
+ Monitor and respond to media errors and tape alerts from backup software and tape libraries
Data Center (Dock-to-Rack) Light Equipment Handling:
+ Install and removal (and retrofitting server rack shelving)
+ Operate manual pallet jacks, manual and motorized server lifts, pallet banding, maneuver and move fully loaded pallets of material, heavy lifting or shifting of loads 40-200lbs with a buddy assistant
+ Schedule dock to DC goods receipt for all SC site data centers
+ Receive inventory equipment and keep items separated by order number or PO number during all handling stages including final in rack placement
+ Move items received form dock area to the data center assigned equipment staging
+ Hook up the power cables to the de-energized server (but do not plug into any live server rack PDU), dress and manage power cables as per DC manager's expectation
+ Sort and separate all miscellaneous spare parts as per assigned to the "save repository”
+ Manage, breakdown, and discard all packaging as per site corporate services recycling guidelines and locations
+ Stack and save all packaging material / pallets designated as "save and return to OEM vendor”
+ Coordinate / schedule pick with vendor and assist with moving and loading
+ Remove end-of-life hardware from server racks, strip racks of rails and PDUs
+ Reconfigure rack with new rails and PDUs
+ Remove EOL racks completely
+ Move or route de-energized power whips under computer room raised metal floor (typically 12”-24” high)
+ Re-arrange floor tiles to meet newly configured rows
+ Assist with maintaining / repairing HAE / CAE (Hot Aisle Enclosures / Cold Aisle Enclosures) vinyl curtains
+ Help maintain / manage power cable management
+ Row / rack labeling to include making and affixing labels to racks
+ General housekeeping of DC's (i.e. remove trash on floor, blown off labels, moving equipment to designed locations, etc.)
**Wage Range** :
The rate for this position is between **$25.52 - $35.09 per hour.** Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
