    The Sr Mechanical Engineer designs functional, reliable and cost effective, heavy duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Provide integration and execution support for our portfolio of products and component design.

    + Under supervision, perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes

    + Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

    + Responsibilities may include independently managing progress across multiple projects.

    + Collaborate as needed with other internal engineering or business support disciplines as well as external suppliers.

    + Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, and technicians working on a common project.

    + Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.

    + Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.

    + Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, and manufacturing.

    + Perform and directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.

    + Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.

    + Provide technical assistance for production support.

    + Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.

    + Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.

    + Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.

    + Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.

    + Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication.

    + Onsite regular attendance is required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.

    + Demonstrate design for manufacturing and assembly experience.

    + Demonstrate manufacturing knowledge and sheet metal experience.

    + Proficiency in reviewing and checking mechanical drawing packages.

    STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

    + Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    + Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.

    + Proficient in the use of high-level CAD systems for mechanical design and documentation.

    + Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to identify, evaluate, and resolve design and assembly challenges.

    + Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, hydraulic systems and their application

    + Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including functionality and troubleshooting techniques.

    + Experience working w/ hand and power tools in an assembly or manufacturing environment.

    + Experience creating large weldment drawings as components of complex assemblies.

    + Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering documentation, including weldments, manufacturing prints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic schematics.

    Pay Range:

    $73,200.00 - $117,800.00

     

    The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
