Join Our Team as a Casual Lactation Support Specialist!
The LSS provides optimal breastfeeding support under the supervision of an IBCLC experienced Lactation staff member.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Act as a lactation support person and resource for patients and their families under the supervision of the Lactation Consultant.
+ Understanding and coordinating of associated lactation equipment.
+ Provides information on additional breastfeeding resources to family.
+ Provide support and engagement throughout the phases of the lactation journey.
+ Maintain accurate and legible patient care records.
+ Analytical ability and independent judgment; interpersonal skills; organizational and leadership abilities.
+ Clinical lactation management skills including psycho-motor skills necessary to use appropriate breastfeeding aids and teaching skills to provide related in-services.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Must be available for 500 mentored, clinical experience hours to proceed to the IBCLC/Pathway Certifying Exam, in order to become a Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and complete associated above education requirements (IBCLE).
+ The process of completing the 500 mentored hours, studying for exam, and waiting for testing results shall be completed within one year from hire date.
+ Must be in Pathway 1 or 3 for the IBCLC Examination.
+ Must have completed education in the14 Health Science subject requirements (Pre-requisites for IBCLC exam).
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Clearances with renewal:
+ Act 31, 33, 34, & 73
