    Essential functions (job duties):

    Wayne State University Law School’s Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights (“Wayne Law”) is seeking applications from Class of 2025 graduates of an ABA Counsel-accredited law school for a one calendar year Post-Graduate Research Assistant Fellowship.

     

    The fellowship offers an opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience working with the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights.

     

    The fellow will work closely with the Director of the Keith Center and the Director of the Detroit Equity Action Lab (DEAL) and report directly to Professor Peter Hammer. The fellow will assist with Center operations, engage in research and writing, as well as program development and implementation. In particular, the fellow will assist in research and content development of the Center’s new Detroit Democracy Project on the eve of the 2026 elections. The fellow may also assist with special events and activities.

    Qualifications:

     

    The candidate will start on or before March 9, 2026; the fellowship will last at least one calendar year from the candidate’s start date. Applicants are required to submit (1) a letter of interest describing the candidate’s interest in the fellowship position, (2) a resume, (3) a law school transcript, and (4) the names and contact information of three individuals prepared to provide professional references. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
