    Reliability Tech A 2nd Shift

    Position Overview

    Shaw Industries is looking for a Reliability Technician A on 2nd Shift who will play an important role in the manufacture of a variety of flooring solutions for our residential and commercial customers.     Position Objective: Serve the Tufting Department by assisting with tufting machine mechanical work.

    Essential Duties:

    + Work Daily with Supervisors to understand and maintain top priority machines and needs for the department.

    + Assign Tufting Fixers to duties and supervise as directed by Reliability Tech Lead

    + Assist Tufting Fixers with routine work to include: style changes, blade changes and repairs and adjustments to machines as needed in accordance with the supervisor.

    + Maintain contact with tufting machine parts vendors

    + Order tufting machine parts and supplies as needed and approved by the Department or Plant Manager

    + Maintain machine and machine parts records for the purpose of scheduling appropriate preventative maintenance

    + Trouble-shoot unusual tufting machine problems

    + Discuss major tufting machine overhauls with Department Manager

    + Ensure that all safety procedures are observed by Tufting Fixers and that housekeeping is maintained

    + Attend periodic departmental meetings/priority meetings as well as training that will foster continued job improvement

    + As assigned, obtains a machine hour meter reading for tufting machines

    + Learn and use EZ Entry/TPM/SHARP system to set up and receive work instructions

    + Directs the work order system as follows:

    + Maintain work order database (EZ Entry/SHARP) on Maintenance Lead computer.

    + Schedule and organize work orders as needed.

    + Communicate with Department Managers and Supervisors to clarify work orders.

    + Assign work orders to specific maintenance employees.

    + Follow-up on assigned work orders to ensure that they are completed in an efficient

     

    and timely manner

     

    + Inspects work for completeness.

    + Demonstrates and assists with continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

    + Adhere to normal work schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays as required.

    + Lead, supervise, and provide training/guidance to lower level technician-mechanics

    + Report to management any quality and safety problems and potential production problems

     

    that are encountered while performing the job

     

    + Specify and requisition materials needed to complete approved work orders.

    + Ensure wearable parts are maintained accordingly.

    + Ensures that proper safety practices are being followed by working with the supervisor and

     

    manager to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety quality and productivity.

    Experience:

    + Extensive experience as a tufting fixer

    Physical Requirements:

    + Sit or stand intermittently for at least 8 hours

    + Climb steps several times per day

    + Walk through plant several times per day

    + Withstand exposure to changes in both temperature and humidity

    8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
