    Job Summary

    The Portfolio Analytics & Insights Senior Manager - Population Health will serve as a primary driver of data strategy, analytics, and insights for the Population Health Center of Excellence (CoE). This role is responsible for building data products, translating raw data into actionable insights, and ensuring that Population Health priorities are evidence-based and embedded into enterprise decision-making.

     

    By partnering closely with cross-functional teams - including Squads, Customer Engagement (CE), Field Medical, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, and Access - this individual will design tools and frameworks that inform market activation, strengthen clinical trial diversity, identify underserved populations, and guide long-term strategic investments.

     

    This position requires a blend of data science expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure Population Health strategies are powered by rigorous analytics and translated into impact for patients, customers, and Genentech.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data Products & Tools

    + Develop and maintain analytics tools that enable squads, field medical, external affairs teams (e.g., patient advocacy, giving) and Customer Engagement field teams to apply population health insights in decision-making (e.g; trial site selection models to improve diversity; provider segmentation based on health literacy, patient access mapping and patient funnel).

    + Deliver localized data and dashboards to support field enablement, Customer Engagement teams, and market engagement planning.

    + Continuously evolve tools by integrating new data sources, advanced analytics methods, and visualization approaches.

    + Create enablement materials and onboarding guides for internal users to maximize adoption of Population Health data tools.

    Patient Journey Mapping & Experience Analytics

    + Develop data-driven patient journey maps to highlight barriers, touchpoints, and opportunities for improving access and outcomes.

    + Translate journey insights into actionable recommendations that inform Population Health strategy and cross-functional interventions.

    + Track and report key patient journey metrics to guide continuous improvement and equity-focused decision-making.

    Insights & Analytics

    + Translate raw data (e.g., clinical trial participant data, real-world evidence, claims, EHR/EMR, social determinants of health) into insights that identify underserved communities, highlight barriers, and inform interventions.

    + Deliver actionable insights to Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs teams

    + Conduct ad-hoc analyses to address urgent business questions and support rapid decision-making.

    + Oversee quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis to assess Population Health outcomes.

    + Effectively interact with and guide offshore teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and maintain high-quality deliverables.

    Business Case Modeling

    + Lead and coordinate therapeutic area leads as appropriate to evaluate and standardize assumptions across teams

    + Partner with the measurement center of excellence and leads to ensure KPIs are aligned with business case assumptions

    + Lead structured business case development in partnership with Finance to evaluate ROI for proposed Population Health investments.

    + Model and forecast patient reach, health outcomes, and commercial value to embed Population Health insights into existing products and their roadmaps.

    + Provide evidence-based recommendations to guide resource allocation and prioritization.

    Market Research & Insights Capture

    + Partner with the Population Health CoE to identify insight needs and leverage existing assets (e.g., market research, patient insights).

    + Supplement quantitative metrics with qualitative insights to better understand barriers and patient perspectives.

    Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

    + Work closely with PH CoE leaders (Design & Strategy, Delivery & Ops, USM, External Engagement) to ensure data products and analytics align with strategic priorities.

    + Partner with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Medical Affairs, Access, CE) to embed Population Health analytics into planning and execution.

    + Collaborate with life sciences teams and external stakeholders on analyses that support peer-reviewed publications.

    + Communicate regularly with stakeholders on project status, aligning deliverables with strategic priorities and timelines.

    + Gather user feedback and deliver recommendations to internal teams to inform the roadmap for population health analytics products.

    Industry Trends & Best Practices

    + Monitor emerging data science approaches, frameworks, and industry trends in health equity, patient experience, and real-world analytics.

    + Bring state-of-the-art methodologies into Genentech’s Population Health strategy.

    + Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

     

    _Who You Are_

    Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience

    + Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences, or related field.

    + 5 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent with advanced education.)

    + Growth mindset.

    + Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on the key insights that inform business decisions.

    + Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly matrixed organization.

    + Strong results orientation and adaptability in a past-facing environment.

    + Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

    Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience

    + MBA or Graduate-level Degree.

    + Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary data sources.

    + Demonstrated experience in the Population Health domain

    + Influence with indirect authority actions and decisions in support of Population Health & CMG objectives and meeting business needs.

    + Experience with revenue forecasting, patient funnels, statistical methods, and uncertainty analysis.

    + Exposure to pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization.

    + Proficient with data analytics tools (Excel, Python, SQL, etc.)

    + Proven track record of leadership, time management, project management, and teamwork.

    + Proficiency in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights, and building compelling narratives.

    + This position is based in South San Francisco, CA

    + Relocation Assistance is not available

     

    The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $138,810 and $257,790. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
