• Metrology Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a technically proficient Metrology Engineer to help commission a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) that was recently procured at a large medical device company here in Jacksonville. This role will be responsible assisting with installing, validating, calibrating and launching the CMM into production. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Mold Tooling, Quality, Validation, and Safety teams to ensure successful project execution.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables for CMM implementation.

     

    Develop technical specifications and performance requirements.

     

    Vendor Management

     

    Installation & Commissioning

     

    Manage IQ (Installation Qualification) and OQ (Operational Qualification) processes.

     

    Ensure proper commissioning and integration into existing systems.

     

    Programming & Validation

     

    Develop or oversee development of CMM programs for part inspection.

     

    Collaborate with Quality and Validation teams to execute validation protocols.

     

    Ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

     

    Training & Production Launch

     

    Organize and facilitate training for operators and engineers.

     

    Support transition to production, ensuring smooth handoff and operational readiness.

     

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

     

    Work closely with Engineering, Mold Tooling, Quality, Validation, and Safety departments.

     

    Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to stakeholders.

     

    This position pays 50-60 based on experience.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    -Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.

     

    -5+ years of experience with Metrology in a regulated environment.

     

    -Proven experience with CMM equipment and programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).

     

    -Strong understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ and validation processes.

     

    -Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills.

     

    -Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities. -Experience with mold tooling and precision measurement.

     

    -Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing environments.

     

    -PMP or similar project management certification.
