JOB SUMMARY:
The Financial Assistance Advocate at Polaris Pharmacy Services is responsible for providing support and guidance to patients in need of financial assistance for their medication and healthcare services. This role involves assessing patient eligibility for various financial aid programs, assisting with application processes, and ensuring that patients receive the necessary support to access their prescribed treatments. The advocate will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate financial solutions and improve patient outcomes.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assess patient eligibility for financial assistance programs and resources.
+ Guide patients through the application process for financial aid, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
+ Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to coordinate financial support for patients.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available financial assistance programs and any changes in eligibility criteria or application procedures.
+ Provide clear and empathetic communication to patients regarding their financial assistance options and status.
+ Maintain detailed records of patient interactions and financial assistance activities in accordance with company policies and regulations.
+ Identify and address any barriers to patient access to medication and healthcare services.
+ Work with the pharmacy team to ensure seamless integration of financial assistance services into the patient care process.
+ Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to financial assistance advocacy.
+ Act as a liaison between patients and external financial assistance organizations to facilitate the resolution of financial issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial situations and provide appropriate solutions.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
+ Proficiency in using financial management software and databases.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
+ Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care and financial assistance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
+ High School diploma or equivalent required
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial assistance or patient advocacy within a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
+ Demonstrated experience in navigating and understanding healthcare insurance policies and procedures.
+ Proven track record of successfully assisting patients or clients in accessing financial aid or assistance programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

+ May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
+ The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk
+ May be necessary to work extended hours as needed

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY
+ Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
+ Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
+ Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.
Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
