    Responsibilities*

    **Clinical Operations:** Assist with patient management in PAES by seating and preparing patients promptly to maintain clinic schedules. Address patient concerns and escort patients to variouslocations throughout the school. Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for patient-related activities and documentation. Prepare instruments, materials, and work surfaces for use by students, residents, and faculty. Provide four-handed chair-side dentistry assistance to students, residents, and faculty/staff dentists as needed, including obtaining and processing radiographs. Adhere to current infection control standards in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Assist with infection-control monitoring of faculty, students, and residents, including participation in quality-assurance processes. Oversee compliance with OSHA standards, instrument calibration, infection control practices, clinical recordkeeping, and required documentation.

    **Clerical Operations:** Assist in developing, revising, and supporting training procedures for dental students. Participate in training activities as needed. Demonstrate working knowledge of insurance codes, treatment plans, and billing processes. Assist the department with managing patient financial concerns, disputes, and commercial interactions. Maintain and support clinic policies and procedures related to patient care. Schedule patient appointments and assist with clinic workflow coordination. Support the Clinic with the new patient intake process. Attend meetings as directed by the Clinic Manager. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    **Inventory and Equipment Management:** Support PAES operations by cleaning, disinfecting, preparing, and organizing work surfaces, instrument storage cabinets, sinks, water bottles, and dispensing areas. Prepare and maintain dental instruments, including assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Package and distribute clinic supplies as needed. Order office and dental supplies in accordance with the clinic's needs. Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, tracking usage, and ensuring timely replenishment of supplies. Perform routine preventive maintenance on dental units, chairs, and operatory lights. Monitor equipment functionality and report repair, maintenance, or replacement needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications*

    Certificate of completion form from an accredited dental assisting program.

     

    Certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with a current Michigan license.

     

    Must hold a CPR Certification and a Radiography Certification (X-ray). .

     

    5 years of dental assisting experience in a progressive general dentistry practice.

     

    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, faculty, and staff at all times.

     

    Must have excellent attention to detail skills.

     

    Excellent Attendance record.

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
