You will have the opportunity to interface with patients and visitors on a daily basis while keeping our grounds safe and properly maintained. ·MUST have previous apprenticeship/ maintenance/ trade skills experience - _janitorial experience only_ _will NOT be_ _considered for this position._
Summary:
+ Acting under the general direction of an Engineering Manager, the Facility System Technician performs a wide variety of duties, the purpose ofwhich is to repair, maintain and/or enhance the physical operation of the facility and its components. The following list of duties would apply. Thisis not intended to be an exclusive listing.
Responsibilities:
+ Troubleshooting – to evaluate a maintenance problem and take action or actions to correct said problem in an efficient and professional manner.
+ Mechanical – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general mechanical maintenance. Such duties include but are notlimited to:
+ Repair of beds, hand controls, and pillow speakers. Remove and/or replace small motors. Repair of medium appliances and/or machinery. Repair of building elements and/or furnishing
+ Electrical – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general electrical maintenance. Such duties include but are notlimited to:
+ Change and/or repair switches, outlets, and plugs. Change lighting tubes, bulbs, and ballasts. Perform electrical safety checks of hospital and patient owned equipment. Replace TV’s Perform basic troubleshooting and repair of small to medium electrical equipment, i.e. contractors, motor starters, timers, etc
+ Emergency duties
+ Snow – removal of all ice and snow from areas owned and operate by The Medical Center. Fire – respond and lend assistance to assure the safety of patients, visitors and the staff in the event of fire, including the proper use of fire extinguishers. Natural Disasters – lend aid and assistance in the event of any disaster, participates in disaster plan.
+ Plumbing – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general plumbing maintenance. Such duties include but are notlimited to:
+ Rebuild and/or replace plumbing fixtures such as flushometers, faucets, filters, etc., to include stems, washers, seats, etc. Unclog drains and lines of sinks, toilets, bedpan flushers, ice machines, refrigerator units, etc., by the use of hand plunger and/or power snake equipment as needed. Solder of copper pipe, both water and feed lines, as well as black pipe layout and fabrication.
+ Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general HVAC/R maintenance. Suchduties include but are not limited to:
+ Clean and/or replace filters as needed. Adjust and make repairs to individual heater/AC units. Basic diagnosis and repair of AC refrigeration units. Performs maintenance as well as PM on large HVAC/R equipment, i.e. bearings, belts, motors, and lubrication.
+ Paint/Finish Work – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate the competency in general painting and finish work. Such duties include, but are notlimited to:
+ Prepare and paint most surfaces. Apply rubber cove base as well as prepare surfaces to accept. Replace damaged or missing ceiling tiles and/or lay track. Replace damaged or missing floor tiles and/or install flooring from start.
+ Lock and Hardware Work – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate competency in general key, lock, and hardware.
+ Repair and/or replace lock mechanisms in doors, casework, file cabinets. Repair and/or replace all types of door hardware and adjust to proper operation. Cut and code keys.
+ Demolition and Construction – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate basic competency in general demolition and construction work.
+ Remove piping, electrical wiring, and/or building material to facilitate repairs, removal or replacement of same. Reapply insulating or building materials properly after said repairs, removal or replacement is accomplished, i.e. pipe insulation, ceiling tile, dry wall, etc. Cutting/welding as well as simple fabrication and repair using oxygen/acetylene, electric arc or heliarc equipment.
+ Carpentry
+ Installation of floor and wall tiles. Grouting/sealing of floor and wall tiles.
+ Maintains standards of confidentiality.
+ Consults with and keeps Manager informed of activities, needs and problems.
+ Assures that all safety tests and preventative maintenance performed is properly documented and other documentation as required.
+ Maintain established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental and infection control, andcomply with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
+ Maintains professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, etc.
+ Care for and maintains supplies, equipment and work areas, remove trash and debris from job area.
+ Requisition supply and equipment needs.
+ Assists other employees in the performance of trade or other assignments.
+ Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department
+ collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outsidethe Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
+ Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards.
Credentials:
+ Driver's License (Required)
+ Maintains a valid Driver’s License, CDL license a plus
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ H.S. Diploma/GED
+ Education Specialization: Equivalent Experience: •And/or four (4) year apprenticeship •And 6+ years General maintenance experience or equivalent •Experience in related specialty, i.e. electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R etc.

Salary Range:
$22.01 - $35.08/Hourly
